Undated, 1904. Beautiful little miniature book of common prayer published by henry frowde, london, with a beautiful detailed hallmarked solid sterling silver cover produced by levi & salaman silversmiths and assayed at the birmingham office in 1904. The hallmarked sterling silver cover of this tiny volume displays a charming design of five angels in clouds after joshua reyolds' heads of angels masterpiece.
The detail of the design is very well executed and these details are further enhanced by the fact that the relief on this cover is superb and stands deeper than is often found in this design. The design displays a beautiful age worn patina. This particlar edition is a little unusual in that these silver prayer books were more commonly found published by eyre and spottiswoode. Not many copies published by frowde are seen for sale.
Hardback, elather boards with gilt lettering to spine. Solid sterling silver front cover with design in relief. All page edges gilt. 688 pages, approx. Size 2.25 inches x 1.75 inches (5.8cm x 4.5cm).
Black leather covers generally in good condition but wiht a chip to top of spine. Gilt lettering to the spine is bright with very little rubbing. The solid sterling silver is in good condition. The design is unworn with just a couple of vrey minor depressions at the leading edge. The binding is sound, although it is cracked between the title and contents page but all pages are firm. There are no inscriptions and all paegs are present and in good condition. For high value items posted outside of the u. K. I do strongly recommend that you consider using royal mail international signed for service at a cost of $6.50-$10.50 u. S, according to value to eb insured. This will provide insurance for your purchase up ot a maximum level of £500 and requires a signature on receipt.
Unfortunately, due to recent experiences of buyers choosing not to pay for the recommended insurance but then expecting a refund for packages lost in the post, i do have to state that if insurance is not taken then a refund can not be given for items lost or damaged in transit. I do not enjoy making these stipulations but it has become too costly to rectify problems caused by both buyers who do not purchase insurance and the postal services who do not fulfill their obligations. Payment. Paypal is the easiest method of payment for non-u. K. Buyers but i am also perfectly happy to accept international bank transfesr by iban and bic/swift. I can also accept cheques from non-u. K. Buyers but olny if they are in £gbp.
Please don't hesitate to enquire if there is another pamyent method you would like to use, if i can accept it i will. I will always issue an invoice immediately after the close of an auction.
Invoices are issued in u. S. $ but if you need the total in £ sterling, for instance if payment is to be sent by cheque, then just let me know nad i will give you the total in the appropriate currency. Postage costs are kept to a minimum but i am still perfectly happy to discount combined purchases.
Please bear in mind though that i can only combine packages up to a weight of 5kg for european and worldwide shipping and that any packages sent to canada weighing over 2kg will incur additional costs.
